The North Carolina Recreational Therapy Association (NCRTA) was
incorporated in June 1988 as an independent, autonomous state
professional association. In August 1989, NCRTA became the 6th chapter
affiliate and the first state chapter affiliate of the American
Therapeutic Recreation Association.
Our
Mission: The
mission of NCRTA is to serve as an advocate for Recreational Therapy by
promoting the health and well-being of the public through service,
education, research, student training, the development of professional
standards, and monitoring and responding to trends in health and human
services which impact the effective and efficient delivery of
Recreational Therapy services.

organized into three primary categories:
Association Information: Information about NCRTA and its
