Questions for Students seeking internships.

Do I need to have an account to view the Directory?
No, simply click on "Search the database" to view sites with internships.

How can I determine the quality of internship sites?
You can't determine quality just by viewing this database. First you need to make sure that your supervisor is certified by the North Carolina Board of Recreational Therapy Licensure and the National Council for TR Certification. The "LRT/CTRS" designation is used by individuals who hold both the North Carolina license and national professional certification. It may be helpful to review a description of the responsibilities and agency expectations of the intern. You may also ask the agency supervisor for names of past students whom you can call to talk with about their internship experiences.

Can I search with a narrow criteria?
YES, you can conduct searches based on multiple criterias. For example, if you are looking to work in Wilson, in a psychiatric facility and for adolescents... you simply input those criteria and if there are such listings, the database will find it for you. Of course, while the database is small with few listings, you should use a broader search.

IMPORTANT. Students, it is your responsibility to make sure that the person you do your TR internship with is licensed as a LRT (state) and certified as a CTRS (national) !!!!
