
NCRTA WANTS YOU!!!
Have you considered serving
on the NCRTA
Board of Directors? Do you know someone who would be an asset to the
Board?
Here's how to get involved:
Each
summer NCRTA holds an
election for the Board of Directors. As members of NCRTA, you can
nominate
people to run for the Board. The Past President is responsible for
gathering a
slate of candidates for the election. If you, or someone you
know, would
be interested in running for a position, please contact the Past
President via
email at pastpresident@ncrta.org
. You can nominate yourself. The primary duties of each position are
described
below.
President
- Set
goals for the coming year.
- Preside
over the board meetings, having collaborated with the secretary
regarding the minutes of the last meeting and the agenda for the
current meeting.
- Administer
the swearing in of the Board members for the coming year.
- Ensure
that the committees are meeting their goals and functioning
appropriately.
- Keep
informed of conference planning and be available as a
consultant/advisor if needed or requested.
- Write
President’s Messages for the Update! Newsletter each year.
- Answer
correspondence—be the key contact member for written information and
the receiver of phone calls.
- Keep
Board Members informed of pertinent information that is obtained.
- Write
thank you letters to people who have donated money or services to NCRTA.
- Proactively
be involved in any problem solving issues that may occur.
- Be
the main liaison between NCRTA and the TR Division Chairperson
- Be
available and committed to assist the association, its members, and
other affiliated or interested organizations in business regarding
NCRTA.
- Represent
NCRTA at organizational business meetings regarding NCRTA.
- Be
an active member on the financial committee and approve/sign
expenditures.
- Assign
Board of Director Members to become
committee liaison.
Past
President
- Must
attend all Board Meetings and Membership Meetings.
- Assist
the President of NCRTA in guiding the Association management,
representation, and policy making.
- Serve
as a Board liaison to assigned committees.
- Chairs
the committee to create the ballot for the next Board of Directors, as
referenced by the NCRTA By -laws.
- Responsible
for providing new board with leadership training throughout the year.
President
Elect
- Assist
the President of NCRTA in guiding the association's management,
representation, and policy-making.
- Be
available to support and assist the President as needed.
- Attend
all Board meetings and Membership meetings.
- Fulfill
the duties of the President when the President is absent or not
available.
- Service
as a Board liaison to assigned committees.
- Serve
as liaison to Conference Planning Committee.
- Serve
as Chapter Affiliate to ATRA Chapter Affiliate Council.
- Ensure
that policy manual is current by writing/revising policies as needed
and approved by the Board.
- Ensure
that Board members have current policy manuals.
Secretary
- Must
attend all Board Meetings and Membership Meetings.
- Prepare
an agenda for each Board Meeting, as approved by the President.
- Record,
type and mail the minutes for all Board, Association, and Executive
Board Committee Meetings.
- Summarize
the minutes to be included in the NCRTA Update! (Newsletter)
- Serve
as a Board liaison to assigned committees.
Treasurer
- Must
attend all Board Meetings and Membership Meetings.
- Prepare
financial report for each Board Meeting.
- Must
serve as chair for the Financial Committee to develop budget for the
fiscal year, which will include incomes and expenses.
- Maintain
financial reports for the association.
- Receive
and process reimbursement for approved monies spent.
- Serve
as the Board liaison to assigned committees.
Member-at-Large
- Must
attend all Board Meetings and Membership Meetings.
- Contact
all NCRTA Members that have not renewed membership.
- Serve
on committees as selected.
- Serve
as a Board Liaison to assigned committees.
- Submit
information to NCRTA Update! The Update Newsletter is to keep
the NCRTA Members informed.
Student
Representatives
- Must
attend all Board Meetings and Membership Meetings prepared to give
reports for the Student Awareness Committee.
- Actively
participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the
Student Issues Forum.
- Serve
as an advocate for the student membership.
- Maintain
an updated list of the student ambassadors.
- Maintain
communication with all college/university contacts.
- Submit
an article for the NCRTA Update! Newsletter’s Student Corner
printed in each issue.
- Serve
as a board Liaison to assigned committees.
