2006 Recognition/Service Awards Criteria

NCRTA will recognize outstanding RT professionals and students who are members of the organization.  As an NCRTA member, you have the opportunity to help recognize an NCRTA colleague who you consider an exemplary RT professional or student.  NCRTA members nominate for three Service Recognition Awards and for three Certificates of Recognition:

Distinguished Member  - This is the highest award granted by NCRTA.  Nominees must be a member of NCRTA, have a minimum of eight years of experience related to RT, evidence of distinctive leadership, unwavering personal and professional commitment to the profession and to NCRTA activities, and one of the following: professional research, written publications, or presentations.

Outstanding Professional  - (This category will include therapists, assistants, educators, and supervisors.)  Nominees must be a current member of NCRTA, have a minimum of three years of experience related to RT, evidence of leadership, service to the profession, and one of the following:  professional research, publications, or presentations.

Student of the Year  - Nominees must be a current member of NCRTA, have demonstrated unwavering commitment to his/her own professional growth in RT; have active membership in professional and student organizations to promote RT; and have demonstrated overall commitment to the field of RT.  Student nominees must be currently enrolled full-time in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in RT.

Certificate of Recognition - Nominees must be a current member of NCRTA; author or co-author of a RT textbook or RT publication; author or developer of a film, video or other AV material; have performed outstanding committee work; have made radio or TV appearances to promote RT; have developed an innovative program, and/or created, designed or manufactured equipment/apparatus to improve recreation experiences for individuals with disabilities.

Click here to obtain a copy of the nomination form, which you may duplicate as needed.  The form(s) should be submitted to the Awards Committee no later than September 15, 2006 for review and selection.  The Awards Committee is dependent upon the membership to make the nominations.  Please give serious thought to making nominations in all four awards areas.
