About Us
The North Carolina Recreational Therapy Association (NCRTA) was incorporated in June 1988 as an independent, autonomous state professional association. In August 1989, NCRTA became the 6th chapter affiliate and the first state chapter affiliate of the American Therapeutic Recreation Association.
OUR MISSION:
The mission of NCRTA is to serve as an advocate for Recreational Therapy by promoting the health and well-being of the public through service, education, research, student training, the development of professional standards, and monitoring and responding to trends in health and human services which impact the effective and efficient delivery of Recreational Therapy services.
We hope that you find the information on this web site helpful. It is organized into three primary categories:
ASSOCIATION INFORMATION:
Information about NCRTA and its committees, continuing education, professional issues, employment opportunities, and resource links. Primary audience: RT and allied health professionals and students.
PROFESSIONAL INFORMATION:
An occupation overview describing recreational therapy services, outcomes, certification and licensure, and employment trends. Includes a link to the NCRTA Job Bulletin for employers to post their position vacancies at no charge. Primary audience: medical and allied health professionals, human resource personnel.
CONSUMER INFORMATION:
Provides a brief explanation of recreational therapy and therapeutic recreation services and position titles. Primary audience: Persons receiving recreational therapy or therapeutic recreation services and their family and friends.
